Silenced Voices celebrates the lives and works of Soviet-era composers who continued to create true art amidst the furies of oppression. Our team is dedicated to uncovering their stories and sharing them through lecture-recitals, concerts, and recordings. Silenced Voices hopes to bridge the broken artistic connections between the former USSR and the West, expanding people’s awareness of the Soviet composers’ creative output and paying homage to the individuals’ artistic integrity.
Silenced Voices series revived in 2023 at the Florida State University. For the most recent edition, see the page “Silenced Voices 2023”.
